Business Women's Council will be meeting in Mary's Market banquet facility. The banquet facility is behind the restaurant/cafe off of State Street.

Payment Fraud: Trends & Types

Adam Keen & Kelli Semmelhack from Associated Bank will cover information on payment fraud and share tips on how to minimize loss.

Types of payment fraud include: Check; Electronic Funds Transfer (ETF) - including ACH & Wire; Debit/Credit Card

Recent fraud trends include: Business mail & email compromise; merchant skimming devices; common con scheme (loan & job scams)

How Associated Bank can help minimize loss (conducted by Financial Intelligence Department): Internal system monitoring for out of pattern transactions (includes deposit & online accounts), electronic payment call back verification; proactively work with appropriate business partners to recommend preventative fraud solutions

Kelli Semmelhack is an Assistant Vice President of Financial Crime Investigations within Associated Bank’s Financial Intelligence Department, covering the entire footprint of Associated Bank. As a Financial Crimes Investigator, Kelli is responsible for completing various fraud case investigations involving check, debit card and new account fraud, as well as financial elder exploitation, internal employee theft and bank robberies. Kelli’s primary goal as a Financial Crimes Investigator is to educate Associated Bank customers on various fraud trends to help mitigate bank and customer fraud losses. Kelli has been with Associated Bank for seven years, and has previously held positions in Associated Bank’s Anti -Money Laundering Surveillance Department and Retail Branch Banking. She has been in banking for 11 years and is a Certified Anti -Money Laundering Specialist.

Adam Keen is a Senior Vice President, Director of Sales & Emerging Payments within the CDTM team at Associated Bank. He leads a team of seasoned treasury management professionals responsible for partnering with commercial and corporate clients to deliver efficient, value-add treasury management solutions. He is also responsible for identifying shifts and opportunities in the B2B payments landscape.
