MOKENA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Life is a Journey to be held April 17

Mokena Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

JourneyCare invites you to join ABC 7 Chicago former anchor Ron Magers and JourneyCare Board Member Elise Magers as they sit down with Lucy Kalanithi for an insightful discussion about her late husband’s #1 New York Times Best Seller, “When Breath Becomes Air.”

Lucy is a nationally noted speaker for her reflections on the challenges she faced with her husband, Dr. Paul Kalanithi: his diagnosis of lung cancer, their acceptance of his fate and the determination that his death, which happened when he was 37 years old, would not define them. Life is a Journey will have a special focus on Advance Care Planning: talking with your loved ones about the many unexpected healthcare challenges life can bring, and creating and Advance Directive so your family and friends are confident of your healthcare wishes in case of an accident or serious illness.

This event is presented by Journey Care, a nonprofit agency that provides supportive care to patients facing life-limiting illnesses and their families in 10 counties of the Chicago region and northern Illinois. JourneyCare strives to help patients live life to the fullest, with dignity and without pain, on their own terms.
