Sammons Financial employees are making a difference in their communities
Chicago-based Sammons Financial Group recently highlighted its 2017 community involvement activities, which included more than 7,000 volunteer hours by its employees.
Special Olympics, local food banks, American Red Cross and the United Way are just some of the many nonprofits and programs that benefited from Sammon's efforts in local communities, something the company's employees are extremely proud of.
"This past year, we able to give over $1 million to our local community, and that's just huge to see that and know it's going to our local community," Sammons Community Involvement Committee member Isaac Norton said in a recent company video blog.
"I personally am a huge fan of philanthropy and supporting it, and I love that Sammons Financial Group does the same," he said.
Sammons Financial employee Vanessa Van Vark says she appreciates the company's encouragement of volunteer work through benefit volunteer hours.
"Sammons Financial Group goes the extra mile to let us be involved during work hours and also outside of work hours," Van Vark said in the video series. "They have a great benefit -- volunteer time off where employees, if they are passionate about something, they can go and volunteer their time during work and not have to take that time out of their paid time off."
Sammons also matches any funds that employees donate.
"Community involvement is really important here at Sammons Financial Group," Sammons employee Jim Barr said in one of the videos. "If you donate a certain amount of funds, the company has a matching program. So along with the hours we put in, there is also a financial aspect to it."
