Graduates earn 2,550 degrees, certificates from Eastern Illinois University


About 17.2 percent of the 2,550 degrees and certificates handed out by the Eastern Illinois University in 2016-17 were to students in Education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Charleston conferred 229 bachelor's degrees and 149 master's degrees in Education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in Industrial Technology/Technician. Data shows the school gave out 179 master's degrees in Industrial Technology/Technician, followed by 153 bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology and Exercise Science and 144 bachelor's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies.

The university enrolled 7,415 students for 2016-17, including 5,957 in undergraduate programs and 1,458 in graduate programs.
