Graduates earn 5,374 degrees, certificates from Illinois State University


About 19.4 percent of the 5,374 degrees and certificates handed out by the Illinois State University in 2016-17 were to students in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Normal conferred 907 bachelor's degrees and 107 master's degrees in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Teaching. Data shows the school gave out 303 bachelor's degrees in Elementary Education and Teaching, followed by 223 bachelor's degrees in Marketing/Marketing Management, General and 199 bachelor's degrees in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse.

The university enrolled 21,039 students for 2016-17, including 18,643 in undergraduate programs and 2,396 in graduate programs.
