Global public relations and marketing firm Daniel J. Edelman Inc. has named Rachel Winer president of its Chicago office.
A veteran of the website BuzzFeed, where she oversaw growth at its Detroit and Chicago offices, Winer’s public relations career also includes representing Kellogg’s and Wrigley, according to a release on Edelman’s website.
Edelman U.S. CEO Russell Dubner said Winer’s experience would be valuable in sustaining the agency’s Midwest growth.
“She has a strong point of view on the distinct value Edelman can bring to clients,” Dubner said, adding that Winer possessed a “problem-solving pragmatism that befits Edelman.”
In the release, Winer praised Edelman’s history as a “powerful” communications and marketing agency.
“I know the firm Dan started here in Chicago is uniquely positioned to continue challenging labels and limits in a marketplace undergoing transformation,” she said.
Winer’s predecessor, Jay Porter, was named CEO of Revere, another firm in the Edelman organization. During his four-year tenure leading Edelman Chicago, Porter generated “measurable impact through integrated campaigns and delivering award-winning work for an array of clients,” the release said.
Porter, a 13-year Edelman veteran, expressed confidence in Winer’s appointment and said he was looking forward to moving to Revere.
“Rachel is the ideal person to advance our leadership for clients hungry for game-changing ideas and solutions,” he said. “The opportunity to join Revere marks a return to my tech roots, and I’m excited to bring my entrepreneurial spirit to lead with those who have built its momentum.”
Edelman, a four-time Glassdoor Best Place to Work, has won several Grand Prix Cannes Lion PR awards over the last four years, and was designated one of Advertising Age’s Agencies to Watch in 2014.
