2.2 percent of Northwestern University students played sports on university teams in 2016-2017


In 2016-2017, 2.2 percentage of Northwestern University students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

Northwestern University has 8,700 undergraduate students, of which 51 percent are women and 49 percent are men, and a total student body of 22,008 students. Of these students, 235 men and 243 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 4.3 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at Northwestern University with the most participants are football (103), swimming and diving (55) and soccer (55).
