CARBONDALE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE issued the following announcement on June 27.
Southern Illinois University Carbondale has released parking and road closure information for those attending the City of Carbondale's Fourth of July fireworks display on campus July 4 at 9:15 p.m.
Parking at the Banterra Center is accessible by using the U.S. 51/Saluki Drive or Pleasant Hill Road/Arena Drive entrances. Lincoln Drive will be open. However, Douglas Drive will be closed, between Lincoln and Saluki drives, beginning at 6 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early. Parking along U.S. 51 and other roadways to view the fireworks is prohibited.
