3.7 percent of the University of Chicago students played sports on university teams in 2017-2018


In 2017-2018, 3.7 percent of the University of Chicago students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

The University of Chicago has 6,632 undergraduate students, of which 51 percent are men and 49 percent are women, and a total student body of 17,002 students. Of these students, 382 men and 240 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 8.7 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at the University of Chicago with the most participants are all track combined (263), football (87) and swimming and diving (64).
