NORTHBROOK, Ill., April 17, 2024 – Allstate customers who opt into the Allstate app's safe driving features are experiencing a significant decrease in severe collisions. According to Allstate and its mobility data and analytics partner Arity, those who choose to use Drivewise are 25% less likely to have a severe collision than those who don't. Driving behavior research from Arity also indicates that Drivewise customers exhibit safer driving habits compared to other connected drivers, handling their phones less, speeding less, and hard braking less by as much as 44%.

Ginger Purgatorio, executive vice president at Allstate, stated, "We offer customers the choice to pay a rate based on their driving. We find that when customers choose to use Drivewise on their Allstate mobile app, they tend to drive safer. And those who drive safer not only get in fewer accidents but also can save money on their auto insurance."

The need for safer driving practices is emphasized by safety advocates, as motor vehicle fatalities in the United States have increased by 13.6% in 2023 compared to pre-pandemic 2019. Issues such as speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving contribute to tens of thousands of preventable deaths on U.S. roads annually. Drivewise evaluates and educates on driving behaviors that can lead to these issues, including speed, braking, and phone usage while driving. The app also offers crash detection services to quickly connect customers with help in the event of an accident.

More insights on safe driving behaviors will be disclosed in the upcoming 16th Allstate America's Best Drivers Report®, ranking the top 100 U.S. urban areas based on driving behavior metrics such as phone handling, high-speed driving, and hard braking.

Allstate, known for its slogan "You're in Good Hands with Allstate®," provides a range of insurance products to protect individuals from life's uncertainties. Arity, a mobility data and analytics company founded by The Allstate Corporation, offers data-driven solutions to enhance transportation services and promote smarter, safer, and more economical mobility options.

The research conducted by Allstate and Arity aims to raise awareness about safe driving practices and the importance of programs like Drivewise in promoting attentiveness and safety behind the wheel.
